PROJECT #6: FLEXIBLE
OPTION # 4: IMPROV EVERYWHERE
OK, so I didn’t exactly know what this “improv everywhere” was...hmm.(pause..sigh) alright you got me, you got me!(goodness//(geeze also applicable)...k back to life outside of the parenthesis) O yea much better. K, so I had flat out, absolutely, no clue what this random last option was attempting to present...SOO after clicking around with my lil friend mouse......hi O. Yes, as you very well may have already picked up on, I will be incorporating rather random, useless corny comments just to keep U on the swivel:0 K grrrreat, all systems a-go my friend. Any who back to the scategorie, I end up checking out improveverywhere.com ...and one might just say that is were this journey began. From sixteen out of the blue people, coming to life through song and somewhat moderate dance in a mall food court to the eighty people that all decided, “hey, how bout we all go to best buy together”, eww yea crazy right..well before you tell the tales of your better story all you true rebels out there, they for one put their creative thinking caps on which had to have gave them the brilliant idea to wear the exact uniforms(blue polo’s & khaki’s) as the employees. Very nice indeed, entertaining to say the least. Seeing each one of these experiences and others very similar to it unfold into real life, for myself , was eye opening. Elderly couples reactions, a mothers facial expression, young kids confused but also at the same time awaiting with jolly anticipation, middle aged men’s tense body language all directed towards --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->.this .sporadic.. performance that is in my mind the real definition, meaning, or whatever Wikipedia would like to call it...THEATER. The things associated with this seven letter word reach out so incredibly far that most everyday, regular ole, average Joe would not be able to expand on what is bestowed within it’s limits if even there are any.
@@@PRE-PRODUCTION<><><><><><>
Creating an experience must rely on the execution to significantly test your surroundings. The attention that yes, you will definitely receive, lies solely on inching mentally piece by piece into the inner minds of people’s initial reaction of what is plain AND simple... fascination!! Doing what has been done for ages, well before our great grandparents were even working in fields is...come on, say it with me, ACTING!!!yay.1.2.3.GIVE ME AN A!A YOU GOT YO A, YOU GOT YO A!GIVE ME Ah...C!C YOU GOT YO C, YOU GOT YO C!...um someone’s not saying it with me but it is totally cool we will all just wait for you until you decide to chime in........................nope.not enough time. The moment awaits and here is how you do what we do.
Grab however many friends, strangers, old lovers.. who still have yet to called you back from that one weekend in Sarasota...k whoever you want is more than fine just make your way into a dining establishment...
When the opportunity strikes, preferably the oldest person present(hellllo seniority factor.87% of all American born servers are in fact youngans. K, maybe not but they do tend to respect grey hair), as the more you get to know the waiter/waitress...go ahead and bring about casualty/smoothly that you do not really want to make a big deal about it but ...it just so happens to be, in fact, your day of birth.................hopefully triggering some sort of reverse psychology .When someone freshly hears it is someone else’s birthday it is now when, what is now rarely used in today’s world, the golden rule is applied. Everyone who is normal gets that warm tingly sensation when happy salutations are passed towards your way on the day you came all up in here(earth) so why not wish it upon another.right??? That....also a complimentary brownie Sunday which is A.) The motive B.) Your reward..I mean come on it is still your FAKE Bday
************HERE is were the improv will start to gain intensity.****************

production=+=+=+=+=+=+If there is a pop up..lets say this particular place for grubbin down doesn’t get into the whole free dessert on your bday...welp, change is among us. improv.....desperate times call for desperate measures—man who invented clocks...or rulers.
OR..let’s say the specific policy is that a photo I.D. is required...sir u mind if we can check your date of birth, it is the managers new policy
Response........how old are you son
Server.......um 24
Response...........yea, that’s why
#####Leaving this awkward, unresolved confused state among themselves the server discusses the matter with the boss not close of course but in good sight...........never, but always is the customer right.................now entering from the back weighing a whopping 1.3 lbs lords and ladies give it up for “a one” delightful treat...costing out at FREE 99 plus improv tax.
POST-PRODUCTION.<><><><><><><><>AS THE MEMORIES CONTINUE TO CARRY ON THIS CELEBRATORY DAY. make sure everyone goes all out on the happy birthday song using an interesting/ even controversial name to spark even more interest for whatever reason. Dance as if heaven were on earth or in a way to get spectators devout attention of contemplating 0 my Mississippi mud pie what dare happen next. When this parade eventually comes to a halt......why not go for round to and see what happens.
Many places are out there, everywhere, why not throw together some kind of fun all can experience.THEATER....it’s what makes different not so much of a bad thing.

***Awards available through the School of Music, Theatre & Dance are made primarily on the basis of merit and are jointly administered through the Offices of the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. They consist of graduate student fellowships and graduate student assistantships and instructorships and are only offered to full-time students. Merit-based awards are not available for summer study.
To be considered for a merit-based award, all application materials must be submitted by the deadline; in most cases this deadline is December 1. The audition/interview must be completed no later than February 20, 2009. Students who meet all application and audition deadlines, and who are subsequently offered admission, will automatically be considered for School of Music, Theatre & Dance merit-based awards.
All notifications of financial awards made through the School will be mailed in early April.
Official offers of assistantships or instructorships and/or fellowships are made in writing by the Associate Deans; other discussions of possible assistance are not considered binding on the University. Prospective students are not required to respond to an offer for the upcoming fall term prior to April 15.
Please be assured that your application will be given every consideration. We regret very much, however, that because the requests for financial awards far exceed available funds, the School is unable to assist many well-qualified and deserving students. We encourage students to investigate any available outside sources of funding to help finance your graduate school education.

About the Department of UO

The Department of Theater Arts offers major curricula leading to the bachelor of arts (B.A.), bachelor of science (B.S.), master of arts (M.A.), master of science (M.S.), master of fine arts (M.F.A.), and doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. Courses in theater arts are available for students majoring in other disciplines who want to develop their communication skills and their ability to appreciate and evaluate what they see and hear.
The theater arts department offers a cross-disciplinary and liberal-arts education. Preprofessional courses provide vocational competence in teaching and in some aspects of commercial theater. Some students seek careers in commercial, educational, and community theaters as designers, actors, technicians, stage managers, or theater managers. Many continue specialized training in M.F.A. degree programs or nondegree professional training schools. Some students use their liberal-arts background to pursue vocational opportunities that require advanced skills in communication and organization.
Students may gain practical experience in theater studies through University Theatre productions and other opportunities.
Theaters. The Robinson Theatre has a proscenium stage and seats nearly 400 people. The new Miller Theatre project will include a "black box" arena theater seating 150200 people, a new lobby serving both the Robinson and tbe new Arena Theatre, a new costume shop, and an expanded scene shop. Construction is expected to be complete by October 2008. The Pocket Playhouse, in Villard Hall, is a small proscenium stage and seats seventy-five people.
Technical Facilities. The scene shop is well equipped with power tools for wood and metal fabrication. Lighting equipment includes computerized controls and up-to-date instruments. The costume shop has power sewing and serging machines and a laundry and crafts area. Students are encouraged to sign up for production workshop classes or to practice their crafts as volunteers. Those who qualify for work-study financial aid are hired to assist in the shops. The shops are open every day.
Pocket Playhouse. Pocket Playhouse is the site for a series of productions presented by an elected student board. Student directors may propose plays and the board makes selections by lottery.
University Theatre. The department's season is composed of productions in two venues: the Robinson Theatre and the new Arena Theatre. Faculty members and graduate students direct and design as many as six shows a year.

Friday Night Lights Call for Extras
After we announced that NBC's new fall series Friday Night Lights would be shooting in Austin, a few of you wrote in asking us about whether they were still casting for the show. We got in on this rather late, as they're indeed looking for extras today.
Two separate casting calls will be held at the 24-Hour Fitness in Round Rock (info), one at 1pm this afternoon and the second at 8:30pm this evening.
Update: Over at Austin360's Austin Movie Blog, Sarah points out several additional casting calls running through the 25th:
Thursday, July 20: Crockett High School Performing Arts Center, 11am-4pm
Friday, July 21: Pflugerville High School cafeteria, 2-8pm
Saturday, July 22: Barton Creek Square, center court, 10am-5pm
Sunday, July 23: Lakeline Mall, center court, Noon-6pm
Tuesday, July 25: Del Valle Junior High School cafeteria, 3-8pmYou can also find out more by calling 512-707-7934 or emailing fnl_extras at yahoo.com (Thanks, Sarah!)

The series, based on Pulitzer-Prize winning journalist H.G. 'Buzz' Bissinger's book of the same name and cousin Peter Berg's film adaptation, has a shooting budget of roughly $1.5 million per episode. Word from one Austinist staffer is that, owing to the number of high school teams already using all available sites this summer, they're building their own football field complete with artificial turf.
